Introduction

Is there really a war going on inside our body? I say; “Yes”!

Perhaps this is not my best choice of words; however, this struggle goes on constantly as anyone who is coping with addictions will agree. In this struggle, the body is attempting to defy the odds and survive while dealing with these addictions. In addition, it's also trying to maintain balance in an increasingly oxygen deficient world. During the course of my “trial and error” research, I have found some simple solutions to these concerns. If you fit this model, I have some suggestions I would like to offer - You can:

1. Use clean (distilled) water for hydration (drinking). Add 3% food grade H2O2 (1½ teaspoons/7.5 ml) to a gallon of distilled water. This will raise the amount of oxygen you are getting in your upper G.I. tract. (This practice is not approved by the FDA.)

2. Use 3% food grade H2O2 as a mouth wash morning and night (This practice is approved by the FDA). Use 3% food grade H2O2 and baking soda to you brush your teeth.

3. Adding a few minutes of deep breathing exercises to your morning and bedtime routine will help. You can also develop a practice of doing these exercises several times during the day. Keep in mind; we are oxygen dependent beings.

4. Know or test all the foods you ingest to insure they are not toxic to your body. Many of the foods and beverages available today are toxic/addictive to some people. The only way for you to know if you are ingesting toxic foods in your diet is to test them (Training in Kinesiology with this technique is available).

5. One more step you can take will dramatically increase your ability to improve your balance - Incorporating colon hydrotherapy into your personal hygiene practice. It is also one of the main points covered in this booklet. Why all this emphasis on increasing your oxygen level?

Raising the oxygen level in you colon is an effective step towards balancing the parasite population in your colon. At some level, parasites are beneficial because they help to breakdown some nutrients and make them more digestible - they only become a concern when they over populate the colon. A low oxygen environment makes this possabile. There are two options you can use to raise the oxygen level in your colon. One is colon hydrotherapy with 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) added to the water. The other is to drink clean (distilled) water containing H2O2. Either way, this practice can help to raise the oxygen level in your body and help to restore the nautral balance of your colon.

The War Within...

Is it possible the war going on in our body is sustained by our addiction to simple sugars and the carbohydrates in processed foods?

Do we understand the true power of addictions? How well does our medical community understand the affect of an addiction on our health at the individual level? As a practicing mindbody psychotherapist, I've successfully handled enough cases of addiction to begin to realize just how powerful it can be. I don't believe it matters whether a substance is legal or illegal; the negative effect it has on the mindbody is going to be detrimental.

Something that is also not commonly discussed is the amount of stress an addiction places on the mindbody (a defination of this term “mindbody” can be found on page nine). Everything we put into or on our body affects our entire mindbody in either a negative or positive manner. It's not possible to isolate one portion and treat it differently.

When you ingest a substance that is toxic, it (the mindbody) will do everything it can to both neutralize the toxin or envelope it in a globule of fat and store it just beneath the skin. In addition, when the intake of toxins reaches levels of saturation the mindbody is unable to cope with, this can create a low oxygen environment in the colon that is friendly to parasites and other pathogens. Unfriendly bacteria require a low oxygen environment in order to to survive. When they are provided with this low oxygen environment, it can be conducive to a significant increase in the number of colonies developing in the colon. As their numbers increase, it is possible for them to increase their level of control over the mindbody. Remember, there are almost as many neurons in the visceral system as there are in the brain. It is also a scientific fact that all bacteria have the ability to communicate and are societal (establishing a social structure). As their numbers increase, so also does their demand for nourishment (this is where it is possible for a craving to develop into an addiction). With this increase in population, is an increase in the amount of nutrients consumed and an increase in the amount of toxic waste they are depositing in the blood stream.

This waste can be very toxic to some people. When the body is unable to dispose of the waste efficiently, it can start settling in other parts of the body and creating new areas with a low oxygen environment. This cycle may be able to repeat itself over and over again. Granted, this process may take years to develop, and to some people never pose any problems. Others (myself included), may not be so fortunate; the speed of this process can pose a serious level of concern for them.

Secondly, there is an undeniable emotional impact on the mindbody that must be recognized. How much stress is being created, either prior to the stimulation of the craving or when it takes place? In nearly every situation, when the stress level reaches a critical level, the blood supply to the forebrain is redirected to the hind (primitive) brain. The hindbrain is incapable of reason. Its function is to react. I believe this helps to explain why many people do things that are harmful to themselves and/or others when they are under the influence of a substance that is addictive. By gradually raising the oxygen level in the lower digestive tract, it is possible to regain control over the pathogens.

Here is another consideration that is indirectly related to addiction: During my youth, I was told by various members of my family to take care of my health if I didn't want to suffer from the infirmities of "old age". Today, after experiencing the success I've been able to accomplish in reversing many aches, pains, and other problems; I feel very strongly that these aliments associated with "old age" simply don't exist. These so called "old age symptoms" are nothing more than the result of continuous abuse. I also believe this abuse is the direct result of the addictions. What the person is really suffering from has nothing to do with age. It's simply the result of malnutrition, a possible lack of exercise, and in many cases, a resistance or inability to change (i.e. giving up an addiction). I know people today who choose to suffer from the results of their addiction, rather than change (they are still seeking a magic pill). I believe it's possible this fear of change is driven by a lack of understanding as to how the mindbody records and stores emotional feelings. Add to this a misconception of what is involved in a balanced diet and effective personal hygiene and the stage is set for any person to develop many of the symptoms classified as "old age".

How does this happen?

Here’s an example: A young person is having concerns with unsightly dandruff. Advertisers shout the benefits of a dandruff shampoo that is designed to cover up this condition. The reason a person has dandruff is not even taken into consideration. This person uses the dandruff shampoo and the condition seems to disappear. It is not impossible that candida (an unfriendly bacteris) is what's causing the dandruff. Instead of helping rid the body of the candida, (which is most likely caused by a sugar addiction), this person is convinced (conned through advertising), to continue using the dandruff shampoo. It works great! Remember, he/she still has the candida infestation and it continues to multiply. As time passes (this can be measured in years), more symptoms of candida infestation appear; perhaps as a skin rash on the lower legs or forearms, or as athletes foot. Now the person is off again buying other products to help cover up another condition (I’ve taken the liberty of using this example as it mirrors my own experience with candida infestation)..

All of this is happening at a relatively slow pace; this person doesn't have any idea of what is really going on or that it is all related. The various products being used are doing a good job of hiding the conditions. Over time, these concerns can become symptoms that are commonly classed as symptoms of "old age". How? When candida becomes systemic (going into the liver and the blood stream), it can be responsible for even more serious health concerns. This has also been my personal experience; however, I don't feel comfortable in listing these concerns because this action could be misconstrued as my making a diagnoses. (Since I'm not a doctor, I could be in trouble with the authorities for attempting to pose as a doctor.).

The knowledge I have gained in my studies and in doing this work has enabled me to clear up almost all the conditions I have been coping with that were the result of my candida infestation (and my addiction to sugar). Eczema on my legs, athletes foot, leg cramps, stiff neck, aches and pains in my legs and in the small of my back, edema in my ankles, hypertension, sinus congestion, etc. My experience with sinus congestion stands out in particular; I took OTC medication almost daily for over twenty years just so I could breathe. Why? Because I believed the advertising claims that milk and ice cream were actually beneficial to my health. I drank milk and ate ice cream almost every day. When I learned of the mucus forming qualities dairy products could have on my system, I was able to give up this addiction. My sinuses cleared up almost overnight. Suddenly, I could breath through both nostrils - and with no medication.

If you're wondering why I never visited a doctor to learn what to do about this concern - I did. He told me as long as the OTC medication helped, there was nothing to worry about. Was he in the wrong? No. This is the technique they (the doctors) use daily. I have known several doctors who, I felt; over medicated themselves just to keep up with their workload.

Here is the connection as I see it today; there is a cycle of reactions triggered by an increasingly excessive amount of sugar and carbohydrates in the diet. The high sugar intake creates an overload on the liver. It is unable to keep up the pace in neutralizing the toxins being created by the high sugar diet. This produces a low oxygen environment in the digestive track and makes it possible for over production of parasites. Toxins produced by the waste (fecal matter) from the parasites increase to a point where the body is unable to effectively dispose of the waste. This build up of toxins at first, may show up as a skin rash or joint discomfort, or a digestive concern. Treatment of these concerns with various OTC products effectively masks the symptoms and the cycle is free to repeat itself.

After the success I experienced by eliminating dairy products, I continued to make more changes in my diet and improve in my personal hygiene. I also became much more serious with my studies. I am happy to say that many other concerns have since disappeared.

I m writing this paper to share some of what I've learned from my personal experience and in working with clients concerning the effects of addictions on the mindbody. I'm sure now there is a link between the addictions, the level of the parasite population, and the presence of a low oxygen environment.

First comes the treat, especially with children; - wow that taste good. I want more!!! With some, this is where the cycle can begin...

I feel John was in this same position.(coping with sugar addictions) when we had the conversation I want to share with you today. He called and expressed some frustration over symptoms that were becoming more noticeable. An article I'd put in one of the newsletters concerning addictions prompted the call. He stated he was having more and more trouble with sinus congestion, headaches, and a stiff shoulder sometimes termed a "frozen" shoulder. After learning of his concerns, we discussed the possibility of an addiction to sugar. He confirmed that he had some fairly strong cravings for pizza and beer (extremely high in carbohydrates and sugar), among other things..He asked; "what can I do?" Here is a major portion of our conversation:

Bill: What you are describing to me is very similar to concerns I have had in the past. There are several things I can suggest. First is to make some changes in your diet; then you may want to consider some psychotherapy to get an understanding of the emotional connection to the addictions. Last, but not least, I’d suggest you start on a regime of colon hydrotherapy. When done properly, it can be very effective in helping a person who is coping with concerns like those you've described.

John: Yes, I know I need to look at the diet thing. It's probably true I could use some therapy, but all of my concerns are in my upper body, my head, my sinus passages, and my shoulders. Aren't you starting on the wrong end? You're saying that working on my colon, is going to help me. That doesn't make any sense.

Bill: I can understand why you feel that way. Can I have a few minutes to explain why I've made these suggestions?

John: Yes. Go for it...

Bill: The medical model you are visualizing is the western medical model that most of us grew up with. When I started on this venture, as I explored ways to regain my health and understand the scope of my challenge, I soon realized that I'd have to give up the western medical model. It failed to fit the scientific facts, not only in physiology, but also in physics. My choice was to replace it with a model of the human body based on the facts as they are known today. This model includes the body, mind, and spirit.

This may take a few minutes to explain, so please bear with me, as I don't want to leave out any details that may be important to helping you understand where I'm coming from. Are you still with me John?

John: Yes,

Bill: Western medicine has chosen to base its understanding of the human body on Newtonian (mechanical) physics (1687). They believe that parts of the body wear out and must be replaced or that with "proper medication", they can alter an offending organ and bring it back into service. Simply stated; "One symptom, one cure". The cure will be delivered by medication and/or invasive techniques (surgery). This approach ignores the fact that the mindbody is actually one. It also totally disregards the energy aspect of the mindbody.

When we view the mindbody as a whole and as energy driven (with each cell vibrating); our perception of the mindbody shifts. We are able to understand and accept the fact that when any one part of the mindbody is out of balance, the whole mindbody is affected. This view of the mindbody is consistent with the development of Quantum physics (1924). Quantum physics has proven scientifically that the mindbody is energy and all the workings of the mindbody are based on a complementary pattern of energy flow when the mindbody is in balance.

When a person is out of balance, as is the case with your concerns; restoring balance to these areas requires making changes in your diet; combined with psychotherapy to remove negative energy blocks; can bring you back into balance. Using colon hydrotherapy may be able to speed up the process and is a practical way to help raise the oxygen level in your lower digestive tract.

Here is a graphic of the gastrointestinal track. Notice that it starts with the mouth and continues all the way to the anus. (An interesting note that is not common knowledge to the average person is the fact that all the segments of this organ start out in the embryo as a single cell; as the fetus develops, this single cell divides and multiplies millions of times, knowing exactly when to alter its structure to accommodate the needs of each particular section of the gastrointestinal tract.)

It’s also true that there are almost as many neurons (brain cells)in the visceral area (the trunk) as there are in the brain. Improving circulation in this area of the body is what is needed to help increase the speed of your recovery. The simplest and most effective way is to use colon hydrotherapy. When performed properly and at the proper intervals, it produces superior results.

By stimulating these points, circulation can be restored and energy flow will increase. When energy flow is increased, the discomfort you feel may dissipate. There is no way one can judge how much therapy you will require to eliminate this concern. A lot will depend on how long you've been tolerating these conditions.

One more point; all of these techniques are based on the concept of energy flow; so there is no need for any form of chemical stimulation (medicine) and no side effects.

Bill: Does this make sense to you John?

John: It's a little overwhelming to shift my image of the body this much. A lot of questions have been coming into my mind as you spoke.

Bill: Give me an example.

John: You say that my doctor is viewing the body as a machine because he uses medication to try to help me. I thought that medicine is what has always been used in one way or another. Didn't the doctors in history always use medicine?

Bill: The answer to your question is a bit complicated. Some doctors have always sought to help their patients, exclusively with medication. This concept goes all the way back to Aristotle. At that time, there were two schools of thought. One proposed that the universe and everything living thing in it was connected through energy (later to be described as Quantum physics).

The other school of thought hypothesized that when man was able to identify the smallest part of the creature he was working with (they termed it "an atom") then he would be able to learn how to repair and/or replace the individual part that was damaged (later to be known as Newtonian physics).

Today, we know that there are many aspects of a living creature that are smaller than an atom. We also know that it is not possible to isolate, or hold one of these parts (machine concept) because they are pure energy (energy does not contain form). We've also learned that when we try to predict what they will do in a test, our own perception of the outcome will influence the experiment. What this means is the fact that we can't even do a test at this level without influencing the outcome of the test.

John: What I hear you saying is that my doctor is not able to help me. Is this true?

Bill: Let me say this John; there are medications available today, prescribed by doctors, that help many people (I call it the shotgun approach; you hit some and you miss some). Most of them work well when they are only taken for a short period of time. In some cases, the problem that is showing up repeatedly is the fact that when some of these medications are taken every day, over a long period of time, they can have extremely adverse effects on some people.

What the body really needs is a chance to return to balance. This means removing anything in the diet that has a negative (toxic) effect on the body (this can be determined with techniques based on kinesiology). Are you still with me John?

John: Yes, you are suggesting I test everything I want to eat to ensure it's compatible with my body; right?

Bill: Yes. Is this something you'll be willing to do?

John: Sure. I'm very interested in learning how this test works and what foods will test positive and what will test negative.

Bill: Good. I mentioned therapy before. My reason for saying this is that all physical discomfort is associated in some way with emotional imbalance. I can say this now because of research that has proven that molecules have emotion. The research was carried out by Dr. Pert at the National Institute of Health (NIH in Washington, D.C., 1972). To expand on this finding, we learn that perception controls behavior (this fact has been confirmed by work done by Dr. Lipton, a molecular biologist, 1978).

I feel that with this new understanding of the mindbody, to offer help to your physical discomfort without exploring the emotional ties to this concern will not serve you. I realize that a particular medication may help you in some respects for the short term. This is what I call a “quick fix". On the other hand, when the true cause your concern, both physical and emotional, is addressed you will be able to heal completely.

John: If what you are saying is true, then why would I want to take any medication?

Bill: All I can do is give you the facts as I've learned them and let you make a choice. This approach has worked for me and it is working for a lot of other people.

John: OK. What is my next step?

Bill: I'll send you a copy of my questionnaire. Once you've completed it and returned it to me we can continue. In the mean time, I'd like to see you get started with either the enemas or the colonics as this therapy can help set the stage for the rest of the program.

John: OK, tell me what I need to know about enemas and colonics so I can decide which one I want to use.

Bill: Thank you John. I'll try to be brief and still give you a clear picture of your choices. Colon Hydrotherapy can be applied in two different ways. One way is to administer what is called; "a high enema", the other way is to use colon irrigation. Both are fairly simple and safe when the proper techniques are followed. There are colon therapists (C.T.’s) who specialize in this type of work. If you were sick or had a fever, I would suggest using one of them. For someone in reasonably good heath, it is possible to learn the procedure and practice it yourself at home. An even better approach is to use the "Buddy System". This involves you and someone you trust to become intimately involved with. The two of you learn the techniques and help each other.

With either procedure, cleanliness is of the utmost importance as the body has little or no defense when you are introducing a foreign substance into the body via the rectum. The proper water temperature is also a major concern because any temperature extreme can cause discomfort or physical harm to the body (the whole experience can be pleasant and relaxing when performed properly). Pressure is the other concern; it can be addressed by making certain the proper height of the body to fluid reservoir is maintained. Next is the quality of the water to be used: It has to be filtered water, free of chlorine (chlorine depletes oxygen). Adding hydrogen peroxide to the water helps to ensure cleanliness and can increase the oxygen level in the colon. It may also help speed up recovery because of increasing the oxygen level in the colon. This will help to stimulate the growth of friendly bacteria and inhibit the growth of pathogens (in some cases, such as with candida, it will expedite the die off). The lubricant I suggest is K Y Jelly. It's sterile and water soluble.

John: You said this is a fairly simple procedure. I think I'd like to have something in writing as you've already named four items of importance.

Bill: I'll send you a copy of the paper I'm writing on this very subject.

John: Good. What's next?

Bill: First we'll go over the procedure for the enema. It is best to have two people for this procedure because most enema bags only hold one or two quarts of water. On an average, it takes about three to four quarts of water for a high enema. You can heat a gallon of filtered or distilled water (about 103 - 107 degrees F) and add three (1 oz.) to six (2oz.) tablespoons (per quart)of 3% food grade H2O2 to the water.

Each person must have his or her own enema bag and it must be sterilized before each use. Place the equipment in boiling water for at least 15 minutes to sterilize.

There are two practical and effective positions that can be used with this therapy - The Simms position or the knee position. With the Simms position, you lie on your left side with your right shoulder leaning forward. Extend your left leg out and flex your right leg towards your chest.

The purpose of using this position is to put the descending colon below the rectum and the ascending colon almost level with the rectum. This way, the water will be able to flow through the entire colon to the cecum. The height of the enema bag should be between 24 and 36 inches above the body. This will give you 1 to 1½ psi (pounds per square inch) of pressure.

With the kneeing position, you can achieve a much more through enema as the rectum is
above the entire colon and water always flows downward. A word of caution in using this position; it is not the most advantageous positron to use if you’re not in the habit of taking an enema. Using the knee position enables you to reach the entire colon and when there is a large amount of toxic matter in your colon, it may trigger a serious de-toxing effect on your body. I would encourage anyone who has not had experience with the enema or

colonic and is just starting out to use the Simms position at first. Once you become familiar with the procedure and its effects; then you can use the knee position. (I sometimes use the knee position with my colonic and I find it very effective).

Again, the water bottle should be high enough to insure at least 1 pound of pressure. Keeping the bag high also helps to keep any fecal matter from entering the bottom of the enema bag.

Your goal in doing the enema is to take as much water as you can, filling the entire colon. Having your partner massage your lower back and using deep breathing exercises will also help in this procedure.

Your body will tell you when it's time to evacuate your colon (being relaxed is important as this will allow you to take in more water). This procedure can be practiced every other day until you notice some improvement in your condition.

The colonic works on the same principal as the enema; however the equipment is a little more involved. Here is a diagram of the set-up.

You will need a filtered hot water supply and at least two five-gallon storage tanks for use with the colonic procedure (it takes about eight gallons of water to do a good colonic when using H2O2).

You can add 4 to 8 ounces of 3% food grade H2O2 to each five gallons of water. The shower provides the easiest access to hot water (Note: Be sure to check the water before each use to insure the proper temperature). I strongly encourage you to filter the tap water as the chlorine present in the tap water will destroy the oxygen. I suggest a crystal shower filter. They work much better than carbon (charcoal) filters. This procedure can be used once or twice a week.

There are also colonic systems available that can be built right into the bathroom. This is the ultimate set-up as these units are totally computer controlled; ensuring the proper water temperature and pressure.

Now a word from a doctor (Dr. Knox, D.C.) who operated a colon clinic for 10 years in the Northwest. He states; "I encourage you not to try using any soap, concoction, tea, or stimulant with an enema or colonic. They can be dangerous to your well-being. Clean, filtered water works just fine".

There you have it John. Sorry I talked so long.

John: Thanks for taking the time to explain everything. Do you have any printed material you can send me that covers what we've just talked about?

Bill: Yes, I do John. I have a paper that goes into some detail about what is required in order to have a good experience using colon irrigation. I'll put one in the mail for you.

Please note: Enemas and colonics are safe to use in personal hygiene when the proper procedures are followed.

Enemas or colonics can be dangerous and even fatal when unsanitary or improperly prepared equipment is used or when a person, improperly trained, is providing this service. This procedure is not difficult to perform; however, it does take some training and an understanding of the physiology of the lower G. I. Track. If you have any questions, talk to your health care provider.

I think the buddy system is the safest approach as I've always found that two minds are better than one when they have the same goal.

Should you choose to do enemas or colonics as a result of reading this material, I strongly encourage you to ensure that you have had the proper training before attempting to practice this procedure at home. Make an appointment with a colon therapist who is knowledgeable. Even better, find one who will add 3% food grade H2O2 to the filtered water used for the colonic. This will greatly improve the quality of the therapy for you.

Thank you for taking time to read this material. In this overview, I realize I've only scratched the surface of some very complex facts. That is the purpose of this booklet. If this subject matter has generated enough interest for you to start asking questions about what you can do to help improve your health, then it has served its purpose.
