According to Dr. Stanley Jacob in his book; "The Miracle Of MSM", I quote; "we need first to understand DMSO. We turn the clock back to March 1980, when I appeared on the CBS television show 60 Minutes with Sandy Sherrick, a southern California house wife. Sherrick had suffered severe chronic whiplash and nerve damage in and automobile accident two years before".

  MSM, like DMSO can move through the cellular wall with ease. Many feel this is why it is so helpful with healing. It's a simple organic sulfur compound and it's found in most raw foods. To learn the details of this interesting chemical I encourage you to read Dr. Jacob's book. In the book, he states clearly how it has helped people in his clinic over the past fifteen years. (As a side note; the FDA approved it for use in animals about ten years before it became available to us.) It is said to have the ability to relieve pain and improve circulation. It may also help in the control of fungi such as candida albicans. There are several studies going on at present to learn exactly how MSM works in various applications.

  Today, there are three principal sources for MSM. The United States, India, and China. Almost all of the MSM I've found that is made overseas is 99.5 pure. It's also my understanding they also don't have any third party control or GMP (good manufacturing practices) in place we have. Their products may be fine; however, the MSM manufactured in the United States is 99.9 % pure. Companies in the United States do have to follow the GMP standards, and they are monitored by the FDA. This may explain the price spread for many of these products. I've found some MSM priced higher than average only to read the label and learn it's only 99.5% pure. Be sure you read the label. Who can benefit from adding MSM to their diet?

  Since MSM is found in every cell in the body, it's possible that it will enhance anyone's overall health. If you have any concerns about aching or stiff joints, it may help you. If you have trouble with sugar cravings, I'd encourage you to try it as it's helped me in this area. Honestly, I don't think anyone knows what it can and cannot do at this point.

People ask how much to take:

  I suggest starting out slowly by taking one or two capsules ( 1000mg.) or one half teaspoon powder in juice or water with each meal. Continue to increase the amount you are taking until you notice the results you are seeking. (At the present, I'm taking about 20 grams/20 capsules a day. I take my MSM with meals and at bed time.) Taking it three or four times a day is more effective. According to Dr. Jacob, MSM is not toxic to the body so there is little concern about overdosing.

  It is possible to go too fast and start de-toxicing. This has showed up in the form of headaches and/or sinus /bronchial congestion in some people. When they backed off, the condition cleared up.
