Is Having Poor Health/Chronic Disease Just A Case Of Bad Luck? |

My answer to this question is a resounding NO! I say this because I've spent the last twenty-five years studying this question and learning what is involved in uncovering the mystery of good health. Today, I feel I have some valid answers. I must caution the reader that the following information is contrary to almost all of the teaching available today provided by many respected health authorities. This information is also contrary to most of the material I've seen that is provided by the pharmaceutical industry. Reading this information may make it possible for you to create a new understanding of the importance of balance in emotional and physical health. Proceed at your own risk. There are two conditions present in almost all cases of ill health I've studied. This fact holds true for myself as well as other people I've worked with during this time. One is stress and the other is liver congestion. What complicates this picture is the fact that these two functions can reach a point where they actually feed each other. A constant state of high stress can lead to an increase in liver congestion; and an increase in liver congestion can contribute to a higher level of stress. What causes this cycle to begin? One is the sedentary lifestyle and the standard American diet (SAD) of many people. As a person moves from active teens years to a more routine schedule in their adult years, there is often a dramatic reduction in the level of activity they have in their life; also, there are changes in the bodies ability to digest certain foods. As a person moves from their early twenties into later adulthood, the body no longer produces many of the enzymes that protected their digestion during their earlier years. The other factor, the one I identify with most, is not having any knowledge or understanding of the importance of physical and emotional balance. Add to this the fact that when I sought help from health care professionals, their understanding of homeostasis was just as incomplete as mine. Where do the medical practitioners get sidetracked? From my personal experience, I've learned it's a common practice for many doctors to treat the physical symptom of their patient rather than attack what may be the primary cause of their complaint. Example: Prescribing anti-acids for serious digestive concerns; this was my experience.. Is it possible to treat a person's physical health and ignore their emotional health? I find this a common practice in western medicine and it was my practice for years. I've also known other people who have spent the better part of their life running back and forth to the doctor because of one physical concern or another without ever realizing it is possible there is and emotional link to their condition. What I've learned is that change and improvement can only occur when a person is ready to respect the relationship between their physical and emotional health. Of course, treatment is needed for the whole self rather than just for a physical symptom. Can a person find help in treating their physical and emotional health simultaneously?
Yes! How? In my case, I had to accept the fact that I had some serious heath problems (a high level of stress and serious liver congestion) and they had nothing to do with my age. (I feel this is true because I'm a good fifteen years older now and the problems are clearing up.) Next was learning about the importance of a balanced diet and a reasonably active lifestyle. The most difficult for me was being open to learning the importance of emotional balance. Saying this in another way, I'd ask; why is a positive outlook on life so important? Much of the answer lies in this fact: "The cause of all negative emotion brings about a disruption in the body's energy system." Is this process difficult to learn? No. I find it's not hard for people to grasp it intellectually. However, a major stumbling block for many people (myself included) is the challenge of creating the space necessary for these changes to take place. I can appreciate this fact because I fought this same battle in reversing my own health. I tried everything imaginable (pills by the handful, many different therapies) just to avoid making any changes in my diet and/or lifestyle, i.e. the changes I needed to make in order to rejuvenate my health. I might add that I believe this process took years longer than necessary because I tend to be a bit stubborn. Is there a bonus for all the hard work a person is facing? I believe there is a huge bonus waiting for anyone willing to take up this challenge. I've feel I'm a living example of what is possible. I am no longer am troubled with any of the conditions I was coping with in the past. This includes; high blood pressure, poor circulation (cold hands and feet), eczema, lower back pain, headaches, seasonal colds, stiff and aching joints in ny hands and legs, being sexually dysfunctional, waking up in a fog much of the time in the morning, addiction to foods like ice cream, coffee, and chocolate, short temper, an inability to accept criticism, and a very negative outlook on life in general. Today, I wake up in a good mood. On my morning walks, I find myself singing. I'm able to do my exercises without any discomfort. I'm able to do my work without many of the mishaps that troubled me in the past (losing or misplacing something, forgetting an important detail, being poorly organized). Do I still mess up, yes, and I have no trouble apologizing for what happened. That is not something I was good at in the past. Today, I'm having fun with life. Conclusion I no longer believe sickness or disease is lurking in some dark space waiting to pounce on an unsuspecting person, in spite of the fact that this is what I've been told all my life. Are there exceptions, probably? I do believe almost all disease, especially chronic disease, can be caused by the failure of a person to recognize and persistently address the conditions that may be keeping them off balance. I also believe that only through education, training, and persistence, can it be possible for them to achieve a life free of both physical and emotional pain. This has been my experience. My goal is to share this knowledge with as many people as possible that are searching for ways to improve and regain their health. To those of you who choose not to make any changes in your life, I wish you good fortune in every endeavor you may attempt. I also ask you to consider the words of Einstein when asked by a young reporter; "What is the most basic truth in science?" He replied; "Young man, the only constant in the universe is change." I believe we are an inseparable part of this universe - our bodies are just as active, dynamic, and changing as our living universe.
