Good Digestion, Why is it so important?

I believe the ability to digest the food you eat is one of the most important functions there is involving balanced health. Consider this fact; even if we eat the finest, most expensive, and the tasteiest foods available, if our body is unable to recognized these items as food, it has no way to digest them. The reason the body is unable to digest them is the fact that they may contain no digestive enzymes.

In some cases, the body is able to supply enough enzymes to digest some of the food; however, eating habits like these are what got my digestive system in trouble. I've also learned that a lot of processed food is taxing to the liver. This one fact has stood out in almost every situation I have studied. To put it in a clearer context; Good digestion is an important factor in staying healthy. Keeping the liver healthy is a critical step towards; having more energy, having better health, and having a vibrant, healthy life.

Learning what is involved in good digestion can be very individualized. What works for me might not work for you and visa versa (Age can be a factor). I think this is why the diets suggested today work for some people and don't work for others. If you'd like to learn what works for yourself, there is really a very simple way. I call it the "Basic Diet Plan."

First, commit to getting your diet as simple as possible for a minimum of two or three weeks. The fewer food combinations and the less variety there is for the time being, the better. I suggest you start using acidophilus each morning at least 30 minutes before breakfast, and food enzymes with every meal.

Here is the diet I suggest; For animal protein; use only one meat like salmon or halibut. I suggest eating it once a day in small portions along with lightly steamed non-starchy vegetables ([We have a Food Guide.pdf available]). For protein in a non-meat diet; use millet, quinoa, and amaranth. Limit yourself to non-starchy vegetables such as broccoli, kale, carrots, spinach, or cabbage, etc., lightly steamed. Eat fruit by itself. Avoid all dairy products, commercially baked breads, crackers, teas, coffee, sodas, and/or alcohol. Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of clean (distilled) water daily.

This is a difficult diet to follow if you have to work for a living, as most of us do, I understand why the first thing you consider is saying; "No Way"!

An obstacle that can show up when you start this diet is an addiction to certain foods that are high in sugar. When this is true, you may want to consider dealing with the addiction as the first step. When this is resolved, then consider moving on to the more ambitious plans related to your healing.

Come as close as possible to this diet as you can, even if you only change one item in your present diet at a time. This will be step in the right direction. For instance, you like your coffee or black tea. Commit to drinking one cup during one time period of the day, and then drink water the rest of the day and see how you feel. See if there is a difference for you. Yes, we all have favorite foods and giving up any of these foods can be a challenge because of their emotional history. I also want to remind you that this is not something you have to do for the rest of your life. You only do it while you're getting your body back in balance. Ready to learn more?
